Professor Deva has been involved in many complex craniofacial reconstructions for trauma, cancer and inherited anomalies. He utilises the full spectrum of reconstructive tools including tissue expansion, reconstructive microsurgery, the use of bone grafts and bone substitutes and structural fat transfer to replace what has either been lost or damaged through disease or misadventure.
These procedures are complex and often require involvement from other specialist surgeons (such as neurosurgeons, head and neck cancer surgeons and oral surgeons) to be involved in the operating team. They are, as a rule, performed in tertiary centres with full access to intensive care and postoperative monitoring.
